Description
Timoleon and the Third Democracy (344-317 BC). Denarius. circa 339/8-334 BC, 0. 8.31 g. 21.70 mm. Obv. ZEYΣ EΛEYΘEPIOΣ, Laureate head of Zeus Eleutherios left; behind, in the field to right, star of eight rays.
Rev. ΣYPAKOΣIΩN, Triskeles with raised central annulet and pellet.
Castrizio Series II, 3a; CNS 82; SNG ANS 544.
Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue, undoubtedly among the finest specimens known. A very interesting coin. Bold strike, green-brown patina with patches of red, some deposits, otherwise good VF.
