Drachm. circa 171/0 BC, Third Macedonian War issue; Rhodian standard; Uncertain in Thessaly; Hermias magistrate. 2.69 g. 16.30 mm. 10h
Obv. Head of Helios facing slightly right.
Rev. Rose with bud to right; EPMIAΣ above, Z-Ω flanking stem.

This coin imitates the style of the coinage of Rhodes. It was struck in the name of Perseus to pay Rhodian or Cretan mercenaries during the Third Macedonian War (171-168 BC). It seems that the Cretans were familiar with the Rhodian coinage.
